Scanning Hot Metal Detector with Fibre Optics
- High temperature optic
- Heavy duty optical fiber
- 2°, 12° or 36° detection angle
Rota-Sonde DC2038
The Rota-Sonde DC2038 is a Hot Metal Detector for material at temperatures over 500 °C (932 °F) . Thanks to its optical fiber it is able to detect products which are not in its direct field of view (due to physical obstructions, limited space, etc.), even in areas of high ambient temperature.
Because of its rugged design it withstands the severe environmental conditions of the steel industry.
Presentation
The Rota-Sonde DC2038 is a self-contained sensor, complete with:
A metal-jacketed optical fiber cable (with optional lenses).
A cast aluminum housing containing the complete electronic assembly, power supply, photosensitive element and amplifier with transistor and relay outputs.
Operating principle
The infra-red radiation emitted by the hot product is collected by the optical fiber cable and transmitted to the photosensitive element. The photocell signal is processed by the electronic circuit which outputs the detection signal.
The sensor field of view is determined by the lens assembly attached to the optical fiber cable.
Features
- Angle of view : 2°, 12° or 36°
- All electronics are on one plug-in PC board
- Controls installed under the rear cover include a test button used to simulate a hot product
- Mounting foot with air purging connection or water cooling jacket for the lens assembly
